What is moody maximalism? Is it just the academic style or is it something weirder? Moody Maximalism is a type of decor, or room interior design, closely related to the Victorian ‘more is more’ style. You might also compare it to the dark academia style, but maybe a bit more quirky or bold. Dark colors, gold, brass, wood, jewel tones and textures! Use of pattern, etc.

As an artist I feel the pressure of creation. But as an artist I also feel the overwhelming heaviness of being present and focusing energy! This is something that is more prevalent amongst all people (not just artists) in today’s modern world. We have our passions and our lives, but we also are more spread out and in order to stay connected, we have to operate an entire web of social media outlets. I encourage my art friends to step back when you feel that way, and instead of expending your energies outward, focus them inward and to yourself.

You Really Do.

When I was a little girl, I didn’t know that I would be responsible for people’s happiness. I thought I was just responsible for my own! Maybe kids, if I had kids. Or a dog. Definitely responsible for my dog’s happiness.

But as life goes on, and little me decides to be a big time artist — something shifts in the paradigm of supply. I’m not simply supplying myself (and my dog) with happiness… nope! I am creating art. I am wholly responsible for sparking happiness in other people, now. This is a weight I hadn’t fully considered when I decided I would be an artist — but a weight it is, and it’s mine to bear. Happily, I might add.
